Mark Carney is annoying

There are many ways a politician can be a hated figure. There is Trump, speaking whatever he wants without regard for the truth, brazenly corrupt with his crypto dealings and presidential pardons, and placing incompetent people in important positions. He might even be a Russian asset. But to me, Trump is just not a good president for the US. Perhaps that lack of emotional contempt because he is facing all of it head-on. He doesn't weasel out of the fact that he is hated. He faces up to his haters. It's entertaining. It's hard to take him seriously. Does he even take himself seriously?

Carney, on the other hand, is a special kind of disgusting. He takes himself very seriously, a Harvard graduate and a former bank of England governor. In fact, I think a lot of people voted him in because of his credentials. And once he takes over, he proceeds to mislead everyone. We can talk about his "Middle powers" speech at Davos because it's documented and has many plaudits. What he proposed was just an utterly retarded idea if you just take one minute to think about. All these middle powers have export economies. They all just want someone to sell their goods to. How on earth can it work? And he's an economist, how can he not know? This is not a serious person. The part that really gets my goat is that he still has so many people fawning over a speech. It's just a blatant abuse of Trump hate.

In the period ensuing, he goes to China and Europe and everywhere on the taxpayer's dime, "promoting trade", trying to show that Canada has leverage and the ability to trade with the world, of course ending up with nothing to show for it. Because the problem still exists, most of these countries are only interested in selling and not buying. You didn't have to go there to know. It's like the speech and the trips are all just a facade. They were just embellishments, were never going to work, and he knew it. Embellishments, just like his credentials were.

Meanwhile, he max extracts the Trump hate for political benefit but to the detriment of Canada's economy. Having campaigned by saying he would do the deal with the US, something that's vital for the Canadian economy, he proceeds to ignore it, fearing the stain of failure. To the detriment of Canada.

Personally, he invests in the US, and he's continuing his eco-agenda (highly sus given his links to an eco investment fund). The disgusting part is a willingness to let Canada go down the drain for personal benefit. That's the mark of a third-world country politician. It's extremely disappointing, because Canada has a lot of potential. It needs bigger ideas and a vision to execute them. But nothing's going to happen under Carney. He'll be embellishing, announcing things, pulling shit out of his arse, but nothing is gonna happen except for pork barrel projects that fail.

Even Trudeau, the hapless former prime minister who started many of the current hated policies, gets away from hate because of his image as a clueless frat boy. Maybe Trudeau really didn't know any better. But not Mark Carney.
