Giving Up
I have always viewed myself as the sporty kind.
Partly that's where I got the idea that I should learn skiing/snowboarding. Also Maybe it was because we did it a couple of times and I still don't have the basic grasp of it. Maybe I thought it was cool to know how to snowboard. Maybe because it was a reaction to the unfulfilled dream of surfing.
But anyway, planning trips became more difficult. Whenever we were planning trips, I would try to see if we could go ski. And it was tough! During ski season at ski places, hotel and flight prices tend to be expensive. Skiing itself was not cheap given all the gear that's needed and the ski passes, and we'd always need to hire an instructor as well. And they tend to be isolated, so if you were going there, you weren't touring other places. As you know, time on travel is always limited. Either you have no time, cos of annual leave, or you have no money for too many nights. Experience has shown that you can't just go there for one or two days and expect to learn and enjoy it. Just doesn't work that way, as with other sports.
So I gave up. And planning trips became easier. In retrospect, it was kind of stupid for someone living near the equator to do it. Everything becomes exponentially more difficult and expensive.
